Cautious about COVID and concerned about visitors in your home with a new baby? Virtual consultations, also known as telehealth or telemedicine are a new normal! Virtual consultations continue to be a comprehensive model of care. Almost all of your breastfeeding needs and concerns can be addressed virtually.
This appointment is similar to an in-home consultation, except we do not have access to my hospital grade scale, but I do have lower grade rental scales available if you are concerned with weight gain or intake. During this appointment, I will be evaluating both you and baby. We will go over details of your health history, labor and delivery, and all info needed to troubleshoot what is going on. You may need a second pair of hands if we want to do an oral exam. I can walk you through the steps, and we can assess baby's mouth together - if suspected oral restrictions.

The baby books are supposed to help you, but nothing is going as planned. Let me help. During this appointment, I will be evaluating both you and baby. While we always strive to resolve all of your breastfeeding issues during the initial lactation consultation, sometimes ongoing assessment and support are a necessary part of a successful outcome. During this follow up consult, we will re-assess and manage any lingering issues that have not resolved since the first consult. If in-home, we will do a pre/post feed weight and go over/adjust goals. We will discuss any other questions you may have. We will talk about how things are going and what needs to be updated on your Care Plan.
**This appointment is for established clients. If a new issue has popped up, we may need to schedule another full consultation. A follow up is specifically related to an issue that has previously been assessed.
**If you need more than one follow up for more complicated lactation issues, discounted packages will be available.
This appointment takes place in-home, telephone or Telehealth. $50 Travel Fee included. Add an additional $50 for multiples. Please note: $100 fee will be added for emergency/weekend sessions.
LACTATION PHONE Q&A $100
Has your baby/toddler recently had a frenectomy to treat tethered oral tissues and/or ankyloglossia (tongue or lip tie)? Will they be having a release soon? You will be provided with post-frenectomy wound care instructions including specific oral stretches to do with your baby, but they must be done correctly. It is very important that these stretches begin within 4-6 hours after the procedure and continue consistently to ensure the best results and optimal healing. In addition to passive stretches, it is important to learn how to elicit active oral motor movements and work on suck training/strengthening post release.
This appointment is for established clients who have already received an initial assessment & who have had a tongue or lip tie release (frenectomy). While a frenectomy does address the structure (tight tissues), it does not always improve function. In fact, function (latch, sucking, feeding, symptoms) can often become worse after a release. It is critically important to work closely with a Speech Pathologist/Infant Feeding Specialist post release to improve the function of baby's latch and sucking and prevent reattachment.
The best time to schedule your first Post Frenectomy appointment is between 1-3 days post frenectomy.
INFANT ORAL STRENGTHENING SESSION FEE - $225 per individual session (discounted therapy packages below)
All Infant Feeding & Pre/Post-Frenectomy appointments take place in our office located in Davie
Add $25 Travel Fee for in Home (based on availability)
**Please note: $100 fee will be added for emergency/weekend sessions.
DISCOUNTED ORAL STRENGTHENING THERAPY PACKAGES
We offer discounted therapy packages at a decreased rate when paid in full. The number of sessions to purchase is dependent on your clinician's clinical recommendation based on the Initial Infant Feeding Assessment.
All packages include an Infant Feeding and/or Post-Frenectomy Therapy Kit (see above) which includes all of the tools needed for each baby individually.
It is beneficial when your Lactation Consultant is also a Pediatric Speech Pathologist with 24+ years experience in infant feeding and oral motor assessment! This evaluation is focused only on baby's oral anatomy structure & suck function and is not meant to substitute a full lactation consultation. This consult is specialized and focused on evaluating baby only. If you are also experiencing breastfeeding problems, an initial lactation consultation will need to be scheduled in addition to this evaluation, so I can assess you and baby as a complete dyad.
This appointment takes place in-home or in-office. Add $50 for Travel Fee if in your home. Add $50 for multiples. Please note: $100 fee will be added for emergency/weekend sessions.

If you are not ready to proceed with a full Assessment, you may request a Tongue/Lip Tie Screening.
Many people believe that the role of a Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is limited to Articulation or Language. However, we actually have a long list of other skill sets in our scope of practice and one of them includes pediatric feeding & swallowing evaluations. Feeding involves all of the steps it takes to get food off the plate and into your mouth, while swallowing includes chewing, moving the food down the throat, and protecting the airway that leads into the lungs.
I will observe you and your child during a feeding time while evaluating the following:
